Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the position of Judge’s Secretary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Matric certificate is mandatory. Possession of an LLB degree or substantial progress towards one (minimum 20 modules completed) will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience: Applicants should have between one to three years of secretarial or office assistant experience, preferably in a legal environment.
  • Skills Required:

Job Responsibilities

The role of a Judge’s Secretary is integral to the efficient operation of the courts. Key duties include:

  • Managing all incoming and outgoing calls and correspondence
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments and court dates
  • Ensuring all legal documents and judgments are typed, filed, and correctly handled
  • Preparing court rolls and managing court records
  • Handling confidential information with discretion
  • Assisting with the logistics of court proceedings, including managing digital and physical court files
  • Providing administrative support to the Judge, including travel and accommodation arrangements
