Role of a Senior Registrar Nephrologist

• Clinical Oversight: Managing both in-patient and out-patient cases in the Division of Nephrology.
• Patient Care: Conducting admission rounds, inpatient follow-up rounds, and haemodialysis unit rounds.
• Clinic Engagement: Attending general renal, peritoneal dialysis, and transplant clinics.
• Procedural Expertise: Performing nephrology-related procedures, including closed biopsies and catheter insertions.
• Educational Leadership: Providing bedside and clinical tutorials to registrars and undergraduate students.
• Research Excellence: Publishing a research paper in Nephrology during your training period.
• Community Outreach: Offering outreach services to Leratong Hospital on a rotational basis.
• Affiliation: Rotating to other Nephrology training platforms affiliated with the University of the Witwatersrand.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Senior Registrar Nephrologist position, you must possess:

• Medical Qualification: An appropriate medical qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist in Diagnostic Radiology.
• HPCSA Registration: Current registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiologist.
• Academic Excellence: An MMed or equivalent academic qualification (or higher).
• Research Passion: Research experience is desirable.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and patients.
