Research Intern Duties and Responsibilities
As a valued member of IWMI’s research team, your role will revolve around crafting engaging virtual experiences centred on agricultural practices. This journey holds a special focus on aspects like gender dynamics and the vibrant energy of youth.
You will also be lending your support to the impactful CGIAR project known as Diversification in East and Southern Africa. This will involve collaborating with a talented team of researchers and engaging in diverse tasks that contribute to meaningful outcomes across the region.
Your specific responsibilities will encompass:
- Building a foundational understanding of virtual field trips and related concepts.
- Strategizing and conceptualizing virtual journeys aligned with the objectives of the agricultural initiative.
- Collaborating harmoniously with the team to develop interactive and enriching virtual trips.
- Cultivating a creative array of multimedia content such as videos, images, and more, all designed to enhance the virtual field trip experience.
- Conducting essential user testing, gathering valuable feedback, and iteratively refining the virtual experiences.
- Playing a pivotal role in documenting the journey through concept notes and project updates.
Qualifications and Skills
- Enrolled in studies related to Design, Psychology, Communication, or comparable disciplines.
- A genuine interest in the world of agriculture, sustainability, and environmental well-being.
- Familiarity with the basics of virtual reality and multimedia content.
- Effective communication skills, both in writing and speaking, can bridge gaps between complex ideas and diverse audiences.
- Possession of skills in data analysis and a basic understanding of statistical tools, if possible.
- Independent work approach with a proactive stance towards taking initiative and meeting project deadlines.
- Comfort and adeptness in collaborating within a dynamic and diverse team environment.
