What Does the IT Internship Involve?
This role is based at the Durban North Campus and reports directly to the Senior ICT Support team. As an IT Intern, you will be involved in various critical IT tasks that support the smooth running of lecture rooms, hardware, software, and general IT operations. Below are your main duties:
Lecture Room Support
- Provide first-line support for computers and lecture venues.
- Ensure all equipment in lecture rooms (computers, projectors, motorized screens) is operational.
- Keep computer and lecture venues tidy.
- Conduct daily checks on copiers, printers, and wireless infrastructure.
Hardware Support
- Assist users with problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, and photocopiers.
- Install and set up desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Set up projectors for classrooms.
Software Support
- Install and update necessary software for users.
- Help users with software-related issues such as Microsoft Office.
- Manage software licensing administration.
Administration and Documentation
- Log IT support calls with the Service Desk.
- Assist with IT administrative tasks.
- Update hardware and software asset registers, including asset disposal and transfers.
- Prepare reports on photocopier and telephone usage.
General IT Duties
- Maintain the neatness of the Server Room, ICT Office, and Storeroom.
- Manage the sign-in/sign-out process for ICT equipment.
Development and Learning
- Shadow Senior ICT staff for training and development.
- Learn to troubleshoot server issues.
Requirements
