Implats (Impala Platinum Holdings Limited) offers these learnerships to support young South Africans in gaining real industry exposure while completing their National Diploma qualifications.

    For 2026, Implats is recruiting learners for two main roles:

    • P1 and P2 Work Integrated Learners in Chemical Engineering (7 positions)
    • P1 and P2 Work Integrated Learners in Analytical Chemistry (3 positions)

    Both roles are based in Springs, Gauteng, and start in January 2026.

    Available Positions: Chemical Engineering and Analytical Chemistry

    1. Chemical Engineering Work Integrated Learner (7 Positions)

    Role Purpose:
    This one-year learnership allows you to gain practical experience in chemical engineering disciplines. The work aligns with your university’s academic requirements, helping you complete the necessary practical training for your National Diploma.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Completion of all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
    • Good understanding of basic chemical engineering principles.
    • Medically fit for Basic Medical Risk (BMR) and/or Physical Medical Risk (PMR).

    Responsibilities:
    Tasks will be assigned by your mentor based on your training needs and institution guidelines. You will learn to apply your theoretical knowledge in real-world chemical engineering processes within a mining context.

    2. Analytical Chemistry Work Integrated Learner (3 Positions)

    Role Purpose:
    This learnership focuses on practical experience in analytical chemistry, complementing your academic studies. The goal is to prepare you for a career as a qualified analytical chemist, equipped with both theory and practice.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Completion of all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
    • Solid understanding of basic chemistry concepts.
    • Medically fit for BMR and/or PMR.

    Responsibilities:
    You will perform various duties as guided by your mentor, designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in chemical analysis and laboratory techniques relevant to the mining industry.
