Undergraduate Scholarships
Prospective candidates for the 2025 Scholarship Programme at IIE Varsity College have the opportunity to apply for two categories:
- Excellence Scholarships: Awarded to learners achieving an average of 75% in Grade 11 or Grade 12 (or equivalent), or 80% or higher in 4 subjects excluding Life Orientation.
- Achiever Scholarships: Granted to learners with an average of 60% in Grade 11 or Grade 12 (or equivalent), who come from households earning less than R400,000 per annum. Applicants in this category must submit a 600-word motivation.
Only South African citizens are eligible for the ‘Achiever’ Scholarship category.
Applicants will automatically be considered for all categories they qualify for under the Undergraduate Scholarship Programme with a single application. Scholarships cover full-time contact learning for the entire minimum duration of the qualification (3-4 years), contingent upon satisfactory academic progress.
Postgraduate Academic Bursaries
Postgraduate Academic Bursaries are available for students who have achieved an average of 75% in their undergraduate programme, or are currently in their final year with eligibility based on current academic performance.
Distance Academic Bursaries
- Postgraduate Academic Bursaries: Awarded based on achieving a minimum cumulative average of 75% in the undergraduate programme. Final-year students’ eligibility is determined by their current academic performance.
- Undergraduate Academic Bursaries: Eligibility is based on either the most recent school or final school marks.
Application Details:
- Application Deadline: Applications must be completed online by 30 August 2024.
- Application Process: Applicants must complete the application form available on the official website and upload all required certified documentation.
- Preference Ranking: Each applicant can submit applications for up to three qualifications and must rank them in order of preference on the Scholarship application form.
- Category Selection: Applicants are required to specify the category of Scholarship or Academic Bursary they are applying for.
- Required Documentation: Applications will be disqualified if they do not include proof of academic achievement (certified transcripts), financial proof (where applicable), and a 600-word motivation essay as specified.
- Application Review: The IIE Varsity College Scholarship and Academic Bursary Committee will review applications during September.
- Notification of Outcome: Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 04 October 2024.
- Acceptance Confirmation: Scholarship and Academic Bursary recipients must confirm their acceptance by 01 November 2024. They are also required to pay the minimum required pre-admission fee and complete the 2025 intake admissions process.
- Entrance Criteria: Final registration for Scholarship and Academic Bursary recipients is contingent upon meeting the entrance criteria for their chosen qualification.
IIE Varsity College Scholarship Programme and Academic Bursary Application process:
- Application Period: Applications for the IIE Varsity College Scholarship or Academic Bursary are open from 03 June to 30 August 2024.
- Application Forms:
- Complete and submit an IIE Varsity College undergraduate, postgraduate, or distance application form.
- Submit the Scholarship Programme or Academic Bursary application form.
- Payment: Ensure the application payment is made along with the submission of the application forms.
- Motivation Requirement: Applicants applying for Achiever Scholarships (applicable to Undergraduate contact studies only) must submit a 600-word motivation letter as part of the Scholarship Programme application.
- Documentation: All applicants must submit the following documents:
- Academic results (transcripts) as proof of academic performance.
- Financial documents to demonstrate household income, if applicable.
- Campus Consultation: It is highly recommended that applicants schedule a campus consultation with a Student Advisor before applying. This consultation will help streamline the application process and provide guidance on completing necessary forms.
