    ICT Field Technician Job Description

    The ICT Field Technician will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring that all technical standards are upheld across Ster-Kinekor’s cinema network. This includes the timely rectification and repair of technical concerns, monitoring NOC (Network Operations Center) alarms, and addressing equipment failures. The role involves close collaboration with cinema teams, providing them with timely communication, escalation of issues, and on-site technical support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • ICT Equipment Management: Efficient management of all ICT equipment within the cinemas, including repair, replacement, removal, and calibration of projection, sound, kitchen, and auditorium equipment.
    • Backup Support: Provide comprehensive support to allocated cinemas, handling IT, projection, sound, automation, digital signage, lamp changes, filter cleaning, content ingestion, playlists, event management, and equipment maintenance. This also includes fault finding and repairing of all technical and IT equipment.
    • Projection and Sound Maintenance: Execute projection servicing and sound upgrades according to the service schedule or as required.
    • New Builds and Decommissioning: Assist in the preparation, installation, and commissioning of new cinema builds and the decommissioning of existing sites/auditoriums as per business needs.
    • Call Log and NOC Escalation Management: Ensure all cinema call logs and NOC escalations are attended to, providing timely feedback and closing calls promptly.
    • Cinema Audits: Conduct cinema audits to evaluate and improve the standards for a “Perfect Presentation” in line with the Standard Operating Procedure.
    • Stock and Asset Management: Ensure proper processes are followed for stock/asset requirements, including call logs and order placements with the warehouse manager and workshop supervisor.
    • Reporting: Provide weekly reports on projection, sound, and equipment for assigned cinemas. Reports must be detailed, covering lost shows, technical failures, parts replacement, resolution timelines, and escalations to external service providers.
    • Vehicle, Tools, and Assets Management: Physical and administrative management of vehicles, tools, and assets in line with company policies.
    • Standby Duties and Travel: Perform standby duties, work overtime as required, and travel nationally or internationally based on technical or operational needs.
    • Adhoc Tasks: Handle any additional tasks as instructed by the Field Support Manager, including moving items/stock/equipment between locations.
    • Ensure Successful Cinema Operations: Ensure cinemas receive the necessary elements (DCP’s, KDM’s, trailers, adverts, content marketing material, content transfers) for smooth operations. Immediate escalation is required for any failures or receipt of corrupt files to avoid downtime and maintain the Ster-Kinekor brand image.

    Education and Certifications:

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • A+ or N+ certification or a relevant diploma/degree in Technical, Electronics, or Sound Certification

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a projection, technical, or ICT role

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • IT and Technical Expertise:
      • Proficient in IT hardware and software technical skills
      • In-depth knowledge of digital projection, xenon lamps, and sound equipment
      • Familiarity with digital signage and AV presentation setups
      • Expertise in remote administration software like VNC and TeamViewer
    • Systems Knowledge:
      • Windows and MS Office Suite
      • Christie D-Cinema Projectors, NEC D-Cinema Projectors, IMAX Projection
      • Unique, DCU, GoFlex, NOC Lifeguard systems
      • Dolby sound systems
      • Popcorn machines and warmers
    • Technical Skills:
      • Understanding of project planning and deliverables
