Eligibility Requirements

Matric Gap Year Programme (2025)

To be eligible for the Matric Gap Year Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric (Grade 12) in 2024
  • Achieved a minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics or Technical Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Willing to take a gap year in 2025
  • Willing to relocate anywhere in South Africa for the duration of the programme
  • Intend to study one of the listed qualifications in 2026

Bursary Programme (2026)

To qualify for the Bursary Programme, applicants must:

  • Complete the Matric Gap Year Programme and meet the criteria for overall site performance
  • Be accepted into one of the listed study programmes for the 2026 academic year
  • Intend to study at one of the following sponsored institutions:
    • University of Cape Town (UCT)
    • Stellenbosch University (SU)
    • University of Pretoria (UP)
    • University of Johannesburg (UJ)
    • University of Witwatersrand (Wits)
    • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
    • Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
