Who Can Apply for the Globeleq Bursary?
The bursary programme is open to applicants who meet the following requirements:
General Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship: South African citizens only.
- Interest: Applicants must show a clear interest in renewable energy.
- Study Commitment: Must be unemployed and studying full-time in 2025 at a DHET/CHE-registered tertiary institution.
- Qualification Levels: Open to those pursuing:
- Diploma
- Advanced Diploma
- Degree/Honours
- Masters or Ph.D.
- Academic Record: Applicants must:
- Not be repeating their qualification level.
- Have passed at least 80% of their previous coursework.
- Not have failed more than two subjects.

For All Applicants
- A 1–2 page motivation letter detailing:
- Why you chose your field of study.
- How you plan to use your qualification after graduation.

- A comprehensive CV.
- Certified copy of your South African ID.
- Certified copies of parents’/guardians’ IDs or death certificates (if applicable).
- Proof of household income (e.g., SASSA documents or payslips).
- A recommendation letter from an academic or personal referee.
For Matriculants
- Certified Grade 11 year-end report.
- Certified matric certificate.
- Latest (Term 2) Grade 12 report with the school stamp.
For Current Tertiary Students
- Certified full academic records (all years).
- Latest academic transcript (June 2024).
- 2024 proof of registration and fee statement.
- Lease agreement (if off-campus).
For Postgraduate Applicants
- Research topic details (forms part of the selection criteria).
- A supervisor recommendation letter.
