What is the East London IDZ?
The East London Industrial Development Zone SOC Ltd (ELIDZ) is a state-owned corporation established by the government through the South African Industrial Development Zones Programme, which now forms part of the South African Special Economic Zones Programme. Its main goal is to develop, operate and maintain modern infrastructure, while attracting strategic investments to boost the economy of the region.

These internships will run for up to 24 months and are aimed at providing practical exposure to qualifying graduates. Here’s a list of areas you can apply for:

Requirements to Apply
To be considered for these internships, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have completed relevant studies (minimum M+3 qualification).
- Be a South African citizen.
- Preference will be given to:
- Applicants from Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
- Persons living with disabilities.
- Be between the ages of 18 – 35 years.
- Not be currently studying full-time.
- Be unemployed.
- Have no relevant work experience related to your field of study.
- Not have participated in any previous internship (unless it was part of a syllabus requirement/in-service programme).
- Be a top academic performer (preference given).
