    Key Responsibilities

    As an Electronic Engineering In-Service Trainee at SANSA, your role will include:

    • Operation and Maintenance: You will be tasked with operating, maintaining, and monitoring antenna systems, RF, electronic telecommunications, and computer systems associated with satellite ground station operations.
    • Tracking and Telemetry Support: You will participate in specialized tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) services to support satellite launch vehicles (SLVs) during various phases of satellite missions (e.g., launch support, orbit phases, and in-orbit testing).
    • Preventative Maintenance: You will be responsible for conducting routine preventative maintenance as well as first-line reactive maintenance on SANSA-owned systems, stakeholder, or customer-owned systems and infrastructure.
    • Project Participation: You will have the chance to participate in ad-hoc project tasks, which will allow you to further develop your skills and gain a deeper understanding of space mission support.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • You should have an S4/S5 qualification in Electrical Engineering, with a specialisation in electronics or telecommunications, and a strong academic record.
      • You must be seeking work-integrated learning (WIL) or in-service training to complete your qualification.
    2. Technical Competencies:
      • A good understanding of microwave principles, applications, and telecommunications will be essential for this role.
      • You should have computer literacy and be proficient with MS Office Suite.
    3. Communication Skills:
      • You must be proficient in the English language and possess good communication skills, as effective communication will be a key aspect of your day-to-day tasks.
    4. Personal Requirements:
      • You should be 35 years or younger at the time of application.
      • South African citizenship is required.
      • A valid driver’s license is necessary, as the work location is in a remote area with no access to public transport. You will need your own transport or reliable access to transportation.
