Key Responsibilities of the Role
The primary function of the driver is to ensure the timely and safe delivery and collection of goods to and from various sites. The driver will be required to manage and maintain accurate records, liaise with the administration team, and ensure the delivery process is smooth and efficient.
Key Duties Include:
- Complete Delivery Schedules: Drivers will need to follow designated routes and time schedules to ensure that deliveries are made on time and without delay.
- Loading and Unloading Cargo: The role involves loading and unloading delivery vehicles that may contain a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies, requiring physical strength and precision.
- Record Keeping: Accurate Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is a key part of the role. Drivers must ensure these records are kept and submitted to the administration office for filing.
- Safety and Vehicle Checks: Conduct daily checks on vehicles to ensure they are safe and fit for use. Any issues or service needs should be reported immediately.
- Customer Service: Drivers will be expected to handle customer complaints effectively and maintain a high standard of customer service.
- Feedback and Problem Solving: The driver will be proactive in providing feedback and suggesting solutions to ensure timely deliveries.
- Safety Meetings: Attend monthly safety meetings and take action when necessary to improve safety standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Grade 12 (Matric) qualification is required.
- Licenses: A valid driver’s license is essential, as well as a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and a Dangerous Goods License (DG).
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in handling deliveries is required, along with at least 2 years’ exposure to a general business environment.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent attention to detail are necessary. Experience in customer service and knowledge of the hygiene and cleaning industry would be an advantage.
- Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically fit to perform the duties of the role.
