Driver Job Description
The Driver will play a vital role in ensuring efficient and reliable deliveries and collections for the hospital. This role requires a responsible and dedicated individual who is familiar with road maps and understands the importance of timely transportation in a healthcare setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Driver, your key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Transport Services:
- Safely transport hospital goods, medical supplies, and other necessary items to designated locations.
- Ensure timely pickups and deliveries as per the hospital’s schedule.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
- Report any mechanical issues or damages immediately to the supervisor.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle both inside and outside.
- Adherence to Safety Regulations:
- Follow all traffic laws and hospital driving protocols.
- Ensure the proper handling and secure transportation of fragile or sensitive goods.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for specific deliveries.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections, including time logs and delivery receipts.
- Complete and submit required paperwork promptly to the designated personnel.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff and clients regarding delivery schedules.
- Provide updates on the status of deliveries and any unforeseen delays.
- Route Management:
- Plan and navigate the most efficient routes for timely deliveries.
- Read and interpret road maps or GPS systems to ensure accuracy.
- Support Hospital Operations:
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as needed.
- Act as a representative of the hospital, maintaining professionalism at all times.

Inherent Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification
- A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification is required.
- Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar position.
- Licensing
- A valid South African Driver’s License with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Skills
- Must be proficient in reading road maps.
