    Position Overview: Driver

    TB HIV Care is currently hiring a Driver to join its outreach team in Cape Town. This key role is essential for the daily functioning of outreach programs, as the Driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of team members to various sites. The Driver will also play an important role in ensuring that the program vehicle remains well-maintained, clean, and operational, contributing to the overall efficiency of outreach services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Transport Outreach Teams: Safely shuttle the outreach team to designated sites on a daily basis, ensuring the timely and efficient execution of outreach services.
    • Ensure Safety: Maintain a high level of safety for the outreach team, ensuring that all members are securely transported and arrive at sites without incident.
    • Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections: Regularly inspect the vehicle for any defects or maintenance needs. Report any concerns immediately to the program manager.
    • Daily Log and Reports: Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including updating log sheets and submitting reports as required. Ensure that petrol usage is reconciled and reported to the Finance department.
    • Compliance with Policies: Abide by TB HIV Care’s fleet management policies and driving procedures. Always follow traffic laws and ensure that the vehicle is driven in a manner that prioritizes safety and efficiency.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Education: A minimum of Grade 10.
    • Experience: At least one year of experience working in any Key Populations program is required.
    • Driving Experience: A minimum of two years of driving experience with a valid code 10 driver’s license and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
    • Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and another South African language.
    • Clear Criminal Record: A clear criminal record is essential for this position.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Vehicle Maintenance Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Communication Skills: The ability to write routine reports and correspond effectively with team members and stakeholders.
    • Public Speaking: Ability to effectively speak before groups of customers or employees when required.
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure that vehicle inspections are thorough and reported promptly.
