    Key Responsibilities of the Digital Multimedia Officer

    1. Content Production

    • Develop and execute video projects from concept to completion.
    • Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality videos, photos, and animations for MSF’s social media and digital platforms.
    • Conduct interviews with MSF International Mobile Staff (IMS) and transcribe content for multimedia use.
    • Create graphics, GIFs, and short-form videos to engage online audiences.
    • Repurpose MSF’s global content for a Southern African audience.
    • Assist with uploading multimedia content to the MSF media database.

    2. Digital Storytelling & Communication

    • Use scriptwriting, filming, and editing skills to deliver compelling visual stories about MSF’s humanitarian work.
    • Develop visual content strategies that align with MSF Southern Africa’s communication goals.
    • Assist in the production of video-based marketing and awareness materials for fundraising and advocacy campaigns.

    3. Training and Technical Support

    • Train MSF South Africa’s team on Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign).
    • Provide technical guidance on video production standards and industry trends.
    • Maintain and manage video and design equipment.
    • Ensure that the Multimedia Story Library is regularly updated with transcriptions and interviews.

    4. Networking and Collaboration

    • Work closely with MSF’s international communications team.
    • Build relationships with multimedia content producers in South Africa.
    • Support MSF Field HR in gathering content from fieldworkers and humanitarian projects.

    5. Internal Support & Crisis Response

    • Assist with filming and photography during project visits and emergency responses.
    • Edit and adapt multimedia content for different communication needs.
    • Provide ad hoc multimedia support for various MSF departments.

    Skills and Qualifications Required for the Digital Multimedia Officer

    Technical Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in audiovisual technologies, multimedia production, or a related field.
    • At least four years of professional experience in video production, photography, and multimedia journalism.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign).
    • Strong scriptwriting and storytelling abilities.
    • Experience with social media content creation and digital marketing.
    • Knowledge of copyright laws and ethical considerations in multimedia.
    • Previous work in post-production houses or digital agencies is beneficial.
