CTM is looking for an energetic and imaginative Design graduate to join their Visual Merchandising team for a 12-month internship. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design and visual merchandising field, working with industry professionals to showcase lifestyle trends and CTM products across the company’s stores.

Interns will be tasked with creating 3D models of various landscapes and bathroom products, using the SketchUp tool. This work will require a strong understanding of design principles and an eye for aesthetics. As part of the internship, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and refining models, adding relevant dimensions and labels, and presenting these designs in a clear and comprehensible manner to other team members and stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities of the Internship

The selected intern will have the opportunity to take on several responsibilities, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world environment. Key duties include:

    • Designing 3D Models: Using SketchUp’s various tools and features, the intern will design detailed 3D models of lifestyle spaces, bathroom products, and landscapes. This includes incorporating accurate dimensions and labels to provide clarity for presentations and construction documents.
    • Collaborating with Visual Merchandising Team: The intern will regularly work alongside CTM’s Visual Merchandising team, sharing their models, gathering feedback, and implementing necessary revisions. This collaborative environment offers valuable exposure to the decision-making processes of the company.
    • Organizing Project Files: Interns will be responsible for managing their design files, ensuring that all project work is backed up and version control is maintained, which is crucial for the smooth running of the team’s workflow.
    • Researching Design Trends: A major part of the internship will involve conducting research into the latest design trends, materials, and building codes. This research helps ensure the models remain relevant, innovative, and compliant with industry standards.
    • Weekend Store Visits: As part of the role, the intern will be required to visit stores on two Saturdays a month. These visits are essential for understanding the in-store setup, customer preferences, and how to best showcase CTM’s products in different store environments.

    Desired Skills and Qualifications

To apply for this internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

    • Completed tertiary qualification in any of the following fields: Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Visual Art, or Design Studies.
    • Passion for Design: The ideal candidate will have a flair for design and an inherent passion for creating beautiful and functional spaces.
