Two Rivers Platinum Mine, a joint venture between African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Impala Platinum, is currently seeking a Control Room Assistant (Grade: B5) for an internal and external recruitment process. This role presents an opportunity for an individual who is eager to contribute to safe, efficient, and high-quality control room operations within a mining environment.
Purpose of the Job
The Control Room Assistant will be responsible for supporting and assisting with shaft control room operation activities. The role involves delivering quality work while ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
Reporting To:
This position will report directly to the Instrument Technician and will play a key role in ensuring smooth operational functions within the control room.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (Mandatory).
- Trade Test (advantageous) or engineering-related qualifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, SAP, Delta, and ON-KEY (PRAGMA).
- Computer literacy is essential.
Minimum Experience
Applicants should have:
- 1-2 years of experience in a control room or control room operations background (Mandatory).
- Willingness to work Continuous Operations (CONOPS).
- SCADA proficiency to monitor and manage the system effectively.
- Emergency preparedness knowledge to respond promptly to incidents.
- Accuracy in reporting to ensure clear and precise documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination.
- Strong report writing and punctuality.
- A proactive approach to supporting operation control within TRP.
- A willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
- A mindset of preparedness to act in emergency or unexpected situations.
Control Room Assistant Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Control Room Operator in general duties.
- Adhering to safe work procedures and company compliance standards.
- Continuously monitoring the SCADA system for deviations and responding accordingly.
- Answering and recording phone calls in the control room.
- Communicating with engineering and mining personnel via the radio system.
- Coordinating and communicating all underground and surface ore flow activities.
- Ensuring accurate operation reports.
- Managing breakdowns, delays, and incidents effectively.
- Coordinating the TRP key control system.
- Overseeing the booking off/on of breakdowns or downtime in the Delta system.
- Ensuring that proper handover procedures are followed.
- Supporting shaft control room operations and ensuring continuous monitoring.
- Assuming responsibility for the shift handover process.

- The appointed candidate must meet the medical fitness requirements as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
