Job Purpose
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture is seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Technician to support sustainable resource management, operations, and maintenance within Landcare projects. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in providing technical services across different project phases.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A relevant 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree (or higher qualification) in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Professional Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Experience: A minimum of three years of post-qualification technical (engineering) experience.
Recommendation
- Driver’s License: A valid Code B or higher driving license is recommended for this position.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
- Technical Services
- Assist engineers, technologists, and associates with fieldwork, workshop tasks, and technical office activities.
- Promote safety by adhering to statutory and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate technical manuals and standard drawings to incorporate new technologies.
- Produce technical designs and specifications, submitting them for evaluation and approval.
- Administrative Functions
- Contribute to the budgeting process as needed.
- Compile and submit reports as required by the department.

Remuneration
- Grade A: R371,253 per annum.
- Grade C: Up to R556,080 per annum.

Note on Remuneration
The remuneration packages for OSD positions are cost-to-employer (CTE) and include basic salary, medical assistance, 13th cheque, housing allowance, pension contributions, etc. Any other benefits are funded according to the applicable regulations or collective agreements.
