      • R9,960.45 per month (for candidates with a qualification of at least 360 credits)

    Minimum Requirements

    To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Must have a Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) plus a National Diploma in Finance or a related field (NQF Level 6).
    • Must be a resident of Johannesburg.
    • Preference will be given to those who have never participated in an internship program before, unless it was not related to their current field of study.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The intern will be responsible for monitoring the procurement of assets across various regions to ensure a transparent system of acquiring goods and services in line with the City’s procurement policies. Additional duties include:

    • Maintaining and reconciling computerized asset registers.
    • Ensuring all newly procured assets undergo capitalization and are updated in the SAP system.
    • Assisting in the efficient management of departmental accounts and processes.
    • Ensuring compliance with municipal control policies and procedures.
    • Managing claims related to Group Finance assets.
    • Coordinating special projects within the department.
    • Overseeing HR and administrative functions within the sub-directorate.

    Key Learning Areas

    Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

    • Understanding municipal procurement policies.
    • Ensuring cost-effective and transparent financial transactions.
    • Reducing risks related to ineffective internal controls.
    • Managing financial records to support audit processes.
