Casual/Temporary Worker Job Description
The Casual/Temporary Worker role involves physical fieldwork essential for agricultural research trials. This includes preparing fields, managing irrigation, assisting in research tasks, and maintaining both indoor and outdoor research spaces. The tasks will provide exposure to a wide range of agricultural practices, giving workers hands-on experience in a variety of areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Irrigation Management: Removing irrigation pipes from fields before land preparations.
- Field Preparation: Involvement in weeding, planting, and harvesting for research trials.
- Research Support: Assisting in plant processing, installing or removing fences, and setting up or dismantling irrigation systems.
- Facility Maintenance: Cleaning around and inside glasshouses, tunnels, and fields.
- Chemical Handling: Spraying chemicals along fences and buildings for pest control.
- General Maintenance: Assisting with painting, plumbing, and other general building upkeep.
The position requires a Grade 10 qualification with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Candidates should be skilled in field labor, demonstrate reliability, and have basic knowledge of painting and facility maintenance.
