About the Capsicum Bursary Programme
In celebration of 21 years of culinary mastery, Capsicum Culinary Studio is awarding 21 bursaries for the 2025 academic year. These bursaries provide a unique opportunity for students to study full-time at one of Capsicum’s campuses.
Fields of Study Covered:
- Foundational Cookery Programme
- Duration: 6 months
- Qualification: NQF Level 3 (SAQA ID: 110354)
- Bursary Value: R21,500
- Professional Chef Programme
- Duration: 1 year
- Qualification: NQF Level 4 (SAQA ID: 102296)
- Bursary Value: R96,500
- Professional Patisserie Programme
- Duration: 1 year
- Qualification: City & Guilds Qualification Patisserie 8064-02
- Bursary Value: R96,300
The bursary will cover tuition fees for the programme duration. However, it does not include expenses for textbooks, uniforms, equipment, or travel.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to qualify:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Be eager to study full-time and in-person at one of Capsicum’s campuses.
- Be able to start studies in February 2025.
- Meet age and educational requirements specific to each programme:
- Foundational Cookery Programme: 18+ years old, with Grade 9 or NQF Level 2.
- Professional Chef Programme: 17+ years old (18 by 30 June 2025), with Grade 10 or NQF Level 2 and Mathematical Literacy.
- Professional Patisserie Programme: 18+ years old, with Grade 12 or NQF Level 2 and Mathematical Literacy.
Additional requirements:
- You must agree to serve as a Capsicum brand ambassador during your studies.
- You must not have completed any prior culinary or pastry course.
- Capsicum staff, their friends, and family members are not eligible to apply.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online via the Capsicum Culinaire Challenge Application 2025.
Your application must include the following:
- Certified Copy of ID Document.
- Proof of Educational Qualifications (Grade 9, 10, or 12 as applicable).
- Motivational Letter explaining why you deserve the bursary.
- Include your passion for cooking, career goals, and what makes you a deserving candidate.
- Video Submission showcasing your culinary skills. Demonstrate your cooking process, ingredient handling, creativity, and final presentation.
Selection Process
The selection process is as follows:
- Finalists Announced
- Between 8 December 2024 and 11 January 2025, shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
- Live Cooking Competition
- Finalists will compete on 18 January 2025 at their chosen campus.
- Winners will be announced on the same day.
- Programme Commencement
- Classes will begin in February 2025.
