Bookkeeper Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The primary goal of this position is to ensure accurate financial reporting. As a Bookkeeper, your tasks will include:

1. Reconciliation Tasks:
   • Daily reconciliation of bank account ledgers and cash-ups.
   • Weekly reconciliation of Dropshipment and Distribution Centre (DC) Warehouse Supplier accounts.
2. Financial Management:
   • Maintenance of general ledger accounts.
   • Accurate capturing and reviewing of journal entries.
   • Preparing month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Sales Reporting:
   • Balancing and reporting daily sales data.
4. Team Supervision:
   • Supervising the store admin team and ensuring effective workflow.
5. Document and Asset Management:
   • Managing Document Management Systems (DMS).
   • Maintaining fixed asset registers.
6. Project Support:
   • Assisting with ad hoc finance projects.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Education:
  • Matric with Maths and/or Accounting.
  • A related tertiary qualification or currently studying towards one.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in Excel (intermediate level).
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and assertiveness.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in an FMCG environment.
• Personal Attributes:
  • Organized, dependable, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Adherence to deadlines is critical.
