    Requirements for the Medical Registrar in Urology Job Post

    To qualify for this exceptional opportunity, candidates should meet the following requirements:

    1. Possess an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
    2. Provide proof of current registration with the HPCSA.
    3. Have successfully passed the FCS Intermediate exam and maintain good standing with the HPCSA.
    4. Passed FCS(SA) Intermediate exam by CMSA.

    Experience is not required after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, making this an excellent starting point for medical professionals at the beginning of their careers.

    Duties

    As a Medical Registrar in Urology, you will play a vital role in patient care and medical practice. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Conducting comprehensive clinical history taking, examination, and patient assessment.
    • Requesting and analyzing special investigations to inform treatment decisions.
    • Prescribing medications and administering therapies to enhance patient health.
    • Collaborating effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless patient care.
    • Maintaining accurate clinical records to support patient management.
    • Performing various medical procedures, including operations and urologic surgeries.
    • Participating in mandatory overtime, on-call duties, and rotations across all the Wits Teaching Hospitals, including Helen Joseph, Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital.
    • Serving as a role model and clinical mentor to junior medical staff.
    • Engaging in academic activities within the Department of Urology.
    • Teaching and supervising medical students during on-call hours.
