Job Purpose

Minimum Requirements

Key Performance Areas

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to:

Maintenance of Standard Chart of Accounts (SCOA) Logs

  • Ensure precise classification and recording of financial transactions.
  • Regularly update and verify SCOA logs to reflect accurate financial activities.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure uniform application of SCOA codes.
  • Analyze financial transactions for compliance with governmental accounting standards.

Management of IYM Projection Schedules

  • Provide accurate financial forecasts and monitor budgetary allocations.
  • Develop and update In-Year Monitoring (IYM) projection schedules.
  • Compare budget projections against actual expenditures to identify variances.
  • Adjust financial forecasts based on trends and departmental needs.

Utilization of the Basic Accounting System (BAS) for Financial Transactions

  • Record and manage financial data effectively using BAS.
  • Input and track all financial transactions in the Basic Accounting System.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data within BAS.
  • Generate financial reports and analyses from BAS data for decision-making.

Preparation and Submission of Expenditure Reports and Budget Uploads

  • Maintain transparency and accountability through detailed financial reporting.
  • Prepare comprehensive expenditure reports reflecting the department’s financial status.
  • Submit budget uploads and adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with management and other departments to provide financial insights and updates.

Participation in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) Budget Process

  • Align the department’s budget with its strategic objectives and available resources.
  • Engage in the formulation of the original budget under the MTEF guidelines.
  • Contribute to the adjustment of budgets in response to fiscal changes and departmental priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure budgetary allocations support departmental goals.

Remuneration

The annual salary for this position is R202,233 at Salary Level 5. This package includes, or co-funds, a range of service benefits such as a 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension fund contributions, in accordance with applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
