The Mmabana Arts Culture and Sport Foundation (MACSF) is offering a bursary for students pursuing Performing and Visual Arts in the 2025 academic year. This bursary is for qualifying undergraduate students who have successfully registered in an accredited South African institution within the Faculty of Arts.
For aspiring artists in the North West Province, this bursary provides essential financial assistance. The application process is now open, and students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply before the deadline on 21 February 2025.

Eligibility and Application Requirements
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen residing in the North West Province
- Provide proof of income (three months’ pay slips of the applicant, parent, or guardian)
- Demonstrate financial need through an affidavit, if necessary
- Secure admission/acceptance into an accredited South African institution for an undergraduate programme in the Faculty of Arts
Who is NOT Eligible?
Students who are already receiving NSFAS funding cannot apply for this bursary. Additionally, applications that fail to meet all the required criteria or are incomplete/late will not be considered.
Supporting Documents Required
Applicants must submit the following compulsory documents:
- Completed application form
- Certified copy of a South African Identity Document (not older than six months)
- Proof of registration in an institution of learning
- Course structure or content of the chosen programme
- Academic transcripts (if already in the field of study and maintaining a pass rate of at least 65%)
- Reference letter from the Head of Faculty (for new students)
- Fee structure/statement
- Banking details of the institution
- Proof of residence
- Proof of income (three recent pay slips of the student, parent, or guardian if employed)
- Affidavit where financial need exists
